What role does place have in publishing practices? Can publishing — whose main goal is to be dispersed, distributed widely, and circulating — also be situated, grounded and site-informed? In august 2024, MacGuffin was part of the Robida Summer School in Topolo, Italy, to explore ‘Placeness’. Together with a group of fifteen international designers, researchers, and writers we reflected on the role of geographical locations, communities, (cultural) contexts and temporalities in publishing.
